What NekoCAD does, and what it will do next.

One person builds NekoCAD, so a date on a roadmap is a promise that gets broken. This page gives the order instead, and it changes when a maker tells us it is wrong. What actually shipped, and when, is in the changelog.

In the app today. Every line here has a commit behind it.

  • Sketches with relations, dimensions, and the degrees of freedom in view
  • Extrude, cut, revolve, fillet, chamfer, shell, draft, rib, patterns, and mirror
  • Hole Wizard with ISO and UNC tables, modeled and cosmetic threads, and a fastener library
  • Assemblies with mates, component visibility, and edit in context
  • Reference planes, axes, and points, part variables with math in every field
  • Measure, mass properties, section views, appearances, and 3MF colors
  • STL, STEP, 3MF, DXF, and SVG export, written by NekoCAD itself
  • The desktop MCP server for AI agents, and Settings for Claude Code, Claude Desktop, and Cursor
  • Windows and Linux builds, auto-update, autosave and crash recovery

The work between here and the first public build.

  • Sweep and loft, the largest gap a maker meets
  • The macOS build, from the same code as the other two, unsigned for the first release
  • First run onboarding: a stranger reaches a first part in under two minutes
  • Getting started templates, each one a real part and not a toy
  • The documentation site, which the app and the Download page link to
  • The keyboard shortcuts page in Settings
  • The devlog, so the build is public while it happens

Decided and specified. These follow the launch in roughly this order.

  • Boundary boss and cut, which finish the surface tools with sweep and loft
  • Folders in the Features panel
  • OBJ export, and STL, 3MF, and OBJ import as reference bodies
  • Print fit presets: clearances that match your printer, not a guess
  • A layout grid on the base plane, with background and camera presets
  • Interference check, exploded views, and a bill of materials export
  • Configurations and design tables
  • A signed and notarized Mac build, so macOS stops asking and the updater works there too

Real plans, no dates, and each one waits for the desktop app to be right first.
